Republic Day honours the date on which the Constitution of India  came into force on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India. The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949, and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country's transition towards becoming an independent republic. 26 January was chosen as the Republic day because it was on this day in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence (Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress as opposed to the Dominion status offered by the British Regime.

“Agusta Westland Deal” is it a Big-shot Scam?

In the journey of many scams in  india  one more scam is now in limelight i.e. Agusta-Westland Helicopter deal which  estimated cost of Rs 3600 crore. Former IAF Chief SD Tyagi Accused for taking Bribe in Chopper Deal.

What is the AgustaWestland chopper deal?

In February 2010, the Congress-led UPA government had signed a contract with UK-based helicopter manufacturing company AgustaWestland to purchase 12 AW101 helicopters for the Indian Air Force for Rs 3,600 crore. These choppers were supposed to be used for flying the President of India, the Prime Minister, and other such VVIPs. As the details of India's biggest defence scam after Bofors, AgustaWestland choppergate is being unearthed and the role of UPA government and former IAF chief SP Tyagi in the scam is validated by the Italian court.

AgustaWestland was a helicopter design and manufacturing company and wholly owned subsidiary of Finmeccanica S.p.a. and now  Leonardo-Finmeccanica. It was formed in July 2000 as an Anglo-Italian multinational company, when Finmeccanica and GKN merged their respective helicopter subsidiaries (Agusta and Westland Helicopters) to form AgustaWestland, with each holding a 50% share. Finmeccanica acquired GKN's stake in AgustaWestland in 2004. From 1 January 2016, the activities of AgustaWestland were merged into Leonardo-Finmeccanica's Helicopter Sector.

Why was the deal dropped?

·        In Feb 2010 the ruling UPA Govt. signed a contract to purchase 12  AW101 helicopter for Indian airforce for  Rs 3546 crore to carry the VIPs like President of India, PM and others.
·        In Feb 2013 the Govt. decided to put on hold the deal due to the  arrest of  chairman & CEO of Agusta Westland on charges that they bribed middleman to secure the deal with IAF.
·        In 2014 the congress-led UPA Govt. cancelled the VVIP helicopter deal with Agusta Westland on ground that the integrity pact was violated and the Govt. has recovered most of the money paid to the Italian company for the contract.
·        In this controversy the Ex. PM Manmohan Singh, Former Defense Ministry AK Antony, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and former IAF chief SP Tyagi was put in to question.

This scam is now on CBI hands let’s  see what would happen in the future what is the inside story of the case Time will tell. Now  CBI and court will clear that what was  the role of MR tyagi in this deal. Certainly This would become a political issue. Justice in all cases including in Agusta-Westland should be complete, not merely meted out to scapegoats.

Would Reliance JIO be a Game changer in India for Digital Transformation?

It’s time to say “Happy JIO New Year.” Users of Reliance Jio are entitled to free calls and data till the end of March, billionaire Mukesh Ambani announced for 'Jio Happy New Year' offer. Welcome offer of free voice calls and data, available only to those who buy the subscription by December 3. However, the latest reports suggest that Reliance Jio will extend the offer for an additional three months, that is, until March 2017.

WATCH VIDEOS  JIO New year scheme

1- The everything-for-free offer was originally introduced in September and was to last till the end of the year. It has now been extended for three months. This means that anyone who signs up starting Sunday will not pay for voice or data services.

2-Those who subscribed earlier - existing Jio customers - will automatically get the three-month extension for free benefits.

3-There's one major difference though. The amount of top-speed data that a customer can use without any cost is now limited to 1GB of data a day. The earlier limit was 4GB per day, after which the speed was throttled for the customer in question.

4-Jio is India's only entirely 4G network - others use a mix of 4G, and 3G for data, plus 2G for voice calls. Jio uses 4G for voice as well as data.

5-Mr Ambani said that while 80 percent of Jio subscribers use under 1GB of data a day, the rest burn through disproportionately high amounts, congesting the network for others. This is why the new limit has been introduced as Fair Usage Policy (FUP).

6-Mr Ambani said Jio has already crossed 50 million customers in the three months since it launched on September 1. He said this makes Jio faster-growing in India than either Facebook or WhatsApp.

7-Jio user get free calls for life. No roaming charges apply within India either. Data prices, once they kick in, are among the cheapest in the world at Rs. 50 per GB. Till Jio disrupted the market, its competitors priced data at nearly five times that.

8-Reliance has invested over 20 billion dollars in its telecom venture and Mr Ambani had earlier said Jio expects to accrue 100 million customers in "the shortest possible time."

9-Mr Ambani has also announced a rollout of Jio Money Merchant Solutions, a mobile payments application, for enabling digital payments for small merchants at their various point of transactions.

10-For now, Jio Cinema, Music, and other apps will remain available at no charge.

This scheme offered with the aim of testing the network before launching commercial operations. It was the talk of the town when JIO launched. Reliance Jio, Ambani said, is the fastest-growing technology company in the world. “In the first 3 months, Jio has grown faster than FacebookWhatsApp or Skype,” he said. RIL, in September, stormed into the telecom business announcing free voice and data till December-end. Telecom regulator TRAI has said it will examine the new offer to see if it meets guidelines. After complaints from competitors like Airtel earlier, the regulator had cleared Jio's free services till the end of the year.

Although JIO 4G has mixed responses from users & competitors. TRAI reports have suggested that Jio is the slowest 4G service in India. Instead of some negative News, still people are ready to take the new connections. JIO has given clear message that this is time for testing phase so that it could provide world class services to the country. Although its teething problems but end of the year it will be on the right track. Definitely coming  next years Jio would be the Game changer in India for Digital Transformation.
